“I am a painter, monumental artist, and digital artist with over 20 years of experience in creating unique canvases, murals, and art pieces for interiors. Currently, I work in several directions simultaneously, creating both realistic and abstract paintings. Having been educated as an art restorer, I cannot help but rely on classical techniques and color solutions in painting. I learn from the best masters of the past, combining their legacy with modern technologies and innovative techniques.
My series of works, "The Book of Memories," was born from my desire for eclecticism: the fusion of the best from different eras and directions. In it, you can see references to ancient Roman mosaics, Portuguese azulejo, and Japanese raden art, which involves the inlaying of surfaces with mother-of-pearl. Additionally, my paintings contain clear references to contemporary art, the first futurists, and abstractionists.
Light in my works is more than just a visual element; it is the energy I try to capture and convey through each canvas. In my realistic direction, I aim to capture the play of sunlight, its dance, and strength expressed in color and form. I find particular inspiration in the golden hours of dawn and dusk when the world seems to breathe with light and comes alive in its warmth.
I also pay special attention to texture and strive to fill my works with natural forms and elements. Every time I walk in the forest, I want to take that feeling with me. I want to carry a piece of bark and moss with me in fragile memories. Nature is very vulnerable, and we must understand that. I am deeply concerned about environmental issues, and through my paintings, I try to draw attention to the beauty and vulnerability of all living things that humans so carelessly consume. My works are a kind of call for awareness and a careful attitude toward the world that surrounds us.”
Bio
Kate Chaika (1984) is an artist from Ukraine who has achieved success in several directions. Kate hails from the small town of Shostka in eastern Ukraine. She studied theater design at the Art College (Kharkiv). In 2010, she received a Master of Arts degree from the Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Fine Arts. Since 2015, she has worked extensively, experimenting and working in the field of interior design and decoration, creating exclusive designs for cottages, apartments, and restaurants. The artist has created and implemented over 100 projects. She founded the Chaika Art Lab studio and participated in global projects, including the development and creation of decorations for Tesla car commercials.
Kate's works have been exhibited in Ukrainian and international exhibitions. Her paintings and art objects have been showcased in major galleries such as the Pinchuk Art Center (Kyiv) and the Yermilov Center (Kharkiv), as well as in the Underground Art Gallery (Odessa), Lavra Gallery (Kyiv), Voloshyn Gallery (Kyiv), and others. Her works are multicultural, based on tradition, yet simultaneously innovative and bold. The geometry and clarity combine with the richness of textures and an impressive color palette. Despite the variety of directions in which Kate has realized herself, it is her painting that has been presented in Dubai, Istanbul, Berlin, and Vienna. Currently, some of the artist's canvases are in private collections in the European Union and the UAE.
